AUSTIN, Texas – (September 4, 2018) – Christopher S. Hoffpauir, DDS, of Alvin, Texas, has been nominated by the Ninth District Dental Society for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s (Texas AGD) Texas Dentist of the Year Award. This award is considered the most prestigious honor a Texas dentist can earn.

Dr. Hoffpauir is one of only 19 dentists nominated for this year’s award. He and other nominees will be honored at the Texas Academy Awards on Friday, September 21, during the Texas AGD’s annual Lone Star Dental Conference in Austin. Each nominee will be recognized and will receive an engraved plaque. The Texas Academy Awards will conclude with the announcement of the 2018 Texas Dentist of the YearTM. “The designation of Dentist of the Year carries a tradition of the Best of the Best,” said Jeff Geno, DDS, MAGD, Texas AGD President. “The names of past nominees and winners read like a Who’s Who of Texas Dentistry.”

Dr. Hoffpauir received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Dental Branch – Houston in 2012. Immediately following graduation, Dr. Hoffpauir became involved in organized dentistry and held several leadership positions in the Texas Dental Association (TDA) including Secretary/Treasurer, President-Elect, and President for the 2017-2018 year. He is also a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologist.

Dr. Hoffpauir is the founder of a Facebook group called The Business of Dentistry which is an international dentist-only site with over 16,000 members. He is able to share his insights into dentistry from his perspective while allowing other doctors a venue to share their own ideas. In 2018, he became the Founder and CEO of Dental Hub 360 which is a dental education and support website.

“I consider Chris a ‘disrupter,’ and I use that term in a positive manner,” said Dr. William Gerlach, TDA President. “He questions the status quo, yet accepts that which has metric and is motivated to change that which holds promise,” he said.

The Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s mission is to help general dentists succeed. It is the only association that exclusively represents the needs and interests of general dentists who are the primary care providers for patients of all ages and are responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management, and overall coordination of services related to patients’ oral health needs. Its 2,800 members partner together to help guide the journey of Fellowship, Mastership, and Lifelong Learning in order to provide quality dental care in general practice.
